I’m a true believer that it is better to give than to receive. However, gratitude is one of my core values. So, it’s fitting for me to share some of my Christmas bounty and show some gratitude to those whom shared the spirit of giving this holiday season.
After Christy and I blew through all episodes of Breaking Bad this year, it was inevitable that Santa was going to come up with something tied to the show. The gifts in this category included a Los Pollos Hermanos T-Shirt, a Heisenberg Decal, and a made-by-Mom cross stitch quoting Jesse Pinkman:
This is my own private domicile and I will not be harassed…bitch!
My “big gift year” was what I considered a long shot on my Amazon wish list, a Porter Cable Pancake Air Compressor from Mrs. Smouse.
Other notable gifts from the family included a combo hand-crank emergency radio/flashlight/USB charger and a Death Star Ice Ball Mold, perfect for producing frozen Imperial spheres for use in the occasional adult beverage.
We split Christmas celebration into two nights, complete with a second round of gift exchange on the 26th. That night, my in-laws gave me generous gift cards from Amazon and Torchy’s Tacos. The Torchy’s gift card came with a bottle of their Diablo Sauce. If you’ve never tried that sauce, you’re in for an insanely spicy treat.
Santa also slipped in a super-bright Maglite XL50 flashlight.
From The Office
Last Thursday, my entire team filed into my office and surprised me with several types of coffee beans, a Starbucks gift card and a card for five free wings at Pluckers. I was completely surprised. None of my teams have ever been so generous. It was in that moment that I felt validated about the job I’ve done this year at work.
A big thank you again to everyone with whom I had the privilege of sharing Christmas 2013. Best of wishes for a prosperous 2014!
